Life, Work and the extreme suckage thereof
I just officially withdrew from bigbanghood ...

This irritates the hell out of me because I was really enjoying writing the fic and I've put a lot of work into planning it out and it's about 70% done. What annoys me most is that several people have already been kind enough to let me know they are looking forward to reading it and I feel awful for disappointing them.

I just have too much going on in RL just now to get it completed by the deadline. Work stuff has already meant I've had to cancel a week's vacation that was set aside as fic writing time and I'm going to be pulling some insane hours right up until the end of October.

This does not mean I am abandoning the fic - far from it. I've put way too much thought into it to give up now. It just means it won't be coming out on November 1st with all the other bigbanghood stuff.

It also means I won't get any artwork for it which is a shame but probably a blessing in disguise for some poor artist out there who can now go make pretty Guy/Marian pictures for all the other stories ;)

Sorry to hear. :( That pesky RL rears its ugly head at the worst times, doesn't it?

I'm really looking forward to reading your fic when you do have time to finish it; I'll probably hide my LJ chapters in shame when that happens. ;) But be fair-- there's one or two of us who won't require G/M pictures, lol...

Yup - stupid job, always getting in the way of important stuff like fic writing.

And yes - there will be some non G/M but I think you're in the minority!

I think you're in the minority

What else is new? Not that you'd know ANYTHING about that... ;)
WYG: John S3 seriouswastingyourgum on October 11th, 2009 08:32 am (UTC)
Well John's quite a large minority but yes...

I think it's very sad though that Robin/Marian fans are also a minority. It's understandable given who was playing Guy but I never had any problem separating the fact that Gisborne is hot from the fact that he's also evil. Yes, Guy was misunderstood and redeemable and looks very good in black leather... but Maz is Rob's girl. End of.

*kisses you for everything you just said* :D

I've actually gotten the impression, from the commentaries and interviews, that some of the higher-ups shipped Guy and Maz more than Robs/Maz, which I think was a big part of the problem. Creating tension's one thing; messing with 500 years of legends is another.

Yeah I got that impression sometimes too. Or at least they just wanted to pander to the Armitage Army.

What about Armstrong's Angels, though, or whatever they're called? ;)
Railise: facepalmrailise on October 11th, 2009 08:01 pm (UTC)
Crap, wrong account. That was moi.
WYG: lmaowastingyourgum on October 11th, 2009 08:15 pm (UTC)
Thank God - I was ducking for cover behind the sofa there! Although having Vaizey comment on Armstrong's Angels (or whatever) seems strangely appropriate - I'm sure he's a member!

Oh, you KNOW he's got a tapestry of Robs as the canopy over his bed. :D

Damn...real life needs to take a hike. Can't believe you actually have to cancel vacation plans for work. That sucks! I know how disappointed you are especially with the work you've put into your fic. Glad to hear you'll keep plugging away because I certainly look forward to reading it! *hugs*

Cheers m'dear!

Yeah I had planned to take the week of the 19th off since that's the mid-term week the schools (and therefore my Mum) get off but my work project got pushed back to finish on the 26th. Thankfully I'd suspected that might happen and hadn't booked anything but I was just looking forward to the downtime...

I'm going to take the two days for Thanksgiving instead - it's not a UK holiday of course but we have a shared dinner via webcam with friends in the States which is always fun. Taking the two days off will let me concentrate properly on eating and shopping (thankfully without the Black Friday crowds!) :)

Oh what fun!! Though still too bad about not having the time off in Oct. - sounds like you were hoping to have some quality time with your mum. Now you have to wait another month - any chance you'd want to take extra time off then? Shopping - I HATE shopping on Black Friday! Ugh! Eating - yay! Will you make a turkey to share via webcam? :)

As well as Thanksgiving, I may take a few days at the start of November to coincide with hubby's birthday.

My Mum and I had discussed getting away for a few days together but she's picked up a shoulder injury from somewhere that's keeping her off work so I don't think she'll be going anywhere herself. Sucks worse for her because I can move my holidays - she can't.

The webcam dinner is lots of fun - we sit round one end of our dining table with a laptop with a webcam on top and they do likewise - so it's sort of like we're all round one table. There will indeed be turkey (and a small mountain of mashed potatoes) but no pumpkin pie and definitely no green beans in mushroom soup...

I never went shopping on Black Friday when we lived in the States (and don't go on Boxing day here) but since it's not "Black Friday" here and just another shopping day I may chance it...

Your webcam Thanksgiving sounds so cool!! For the record, we have never had green bean casserole and NEVER will. Fresh, steamed green beans? Yes. Baked in cream of mushroom soup? Retch.

But... no pumpkin pie?!? *shakes head sadly* Cranberry sauce? Apple pie, at least? ;)
WYG: John S3 seriouswastingyourgum on October 11th, 2009 07:51 pm (UTC)
There might be apple pie but the small mountain of mashed potatoes usually negates the desire for desserts...
Railise: lolrailise on October 11th, 2009 08:02 pm (UTC)
That's when you settle for a large foothill of mashed potatoes and make sure there's room for dessert. ;)

(My mom makes one apple and one pumpkin pie each year; I always end up being really naughty and having a little of each.)
